Another group, and then another, and then....

Dec. 9th, 2 hrs:
I got to the facility today, and, because of the holiday season, the facility was full of groups wanting to come perform service, so instead of doing bingo, the regular volunteers were assigned to usher groups throughout the buildings, as well as encouraging the patients to stay in the lobby to hear all the groups. The first group we had was the a cappella group from the nearby college, who performed with bells, and it was amazing. They were very cute with the patients, even when one of them started crying because she misses her son.
The next group to come in was a bunch of kids from the elementary school nearby, and they had brought hand decorated sugar cookies and big homemade Christmas cards. They were nervous, but so cute as they came forward and handed out the cards and offered us all cookies. They even sang us a song, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It was really fun to hear them, and to be around the children. The best part was watching the patients interact with them. They seem to miss being around children so much, and it helped me to want to bring my children, when I have them, with me when I go to work. Jesus said "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Liz Lemon Swindle portrays it best in this picture. Even Jesus was uplifted by the children.
